A 31-year-old man was shot and critically wounded Wednesday night while aboard a CTA train in the Chinatown neighborhood, police said.

The man was spotted lurching off a Red Line train at about 7:20 p.m. in the 100 block of West Cermak Road with a gunshot wound to the neck, police said.

The 31-year-old told police somebody shot him while he was riding the train between 35th Street and Cermak Road, police said.

He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition, police said, adding that the man was not “fully cooperating” with investigators.

As of 7 p.m., Red Line trains were running but not stopping at Cermak-Chinatown due to a police investigation, a CTA alert said.

Shuttle buses were available between 35th and Roosevelt to provide connecting service, according to the CTA alert.

Area 3 detectives are investigating.
