On Sept. 1, shortly after 4:05 p.m. Evanston police responded to a McDonald’s in the 1900 block of Dempster Street for a shooting incident, police said Friday in a release.
It said several 911 callers reported that a man, wearing jeans, a white T-shirt and a mask, was firing a gun at a silver Honda in the McDonald’s parking lot. The offender fled on foot and the survivor fled the area in a vehicle, the release said.

It said the survivor and a witness called 911 dispatch while they were traveling in a silver Honda, and that they stopped in the 1100 block of Lake Street where they were met by paramedics and officers.
A 23 year-old male resident of Evanston was transported to an area hospital with multiple nonlife threatening gunshot wounds to his upper body, said the release. It said he has since been released.
The investigation indicates that the shooting was a “targeted attack,” the release said. It said there were not any additional injuries.
