Franciscan Health Graduate Medical Education team honored
The Franciscan Health Graduate Medical Education team was honored with the Courage Award at the 20th Franciscan Health Foundation Golf Classic on Aug. 15.
Developed by Franciscan Health and VITAS Healthcare 10 years ago, the Courage Award honors inspirational individuals and groups who demonstrate exemplary courage and commitment in their fight against life-threatening conditions or in the support of others facing health care challenges.
This year’s award recognizes the leadership, dedication and innovation demonstrated by the entire GME team, which educates and prepares new physicians for medical practice in a variety of medical disciplines.
To stay current with the dynamic changes in health care, Franciscan Health Olympia Fields recently announced that it will open a new medical simulation center to help clinical personnel further develop complex skills and to develop expertise with advanced health care technologies.
Oak Lawn student learns from Olympic movement
Isabel Martinez, an Oak Lawn resident who is studying in the sport and recreation management program at the University of Iowa, recently traveled to Colorado for a unique practicum.
She was able to learn from and network with a broad range of people involved with the Olympic movement, the organizations and actions carried out under the authority of the International Olympic Committee. She also lived alongside the country’s elite athletes and coaches at the training center for a week.
