Better safe than sorry: I have a question for those who are upset that our medical experts always put forth a “worst-case-scenario.” If it turned out to be a worst-case-scenario and they did not warn us, would you be first in line to complain? The medical experts give us the emerging information as they discover it so the information is ever changing until a pattern emerges. I would rather they be over cautious than to leave us without warning.
Thanks for nothing: Rumor has it that notorious loudmouth, Alex Jones, has flipped on Donald Trump and is now supporting Ron DeSantis for president in a move that’s being compared to Satan acting as a character witness for Vladimir Putin.
Voting’s so important: There is no doubt that democracy is our only hope for survival as a nation, and the way to preserve it requires our citizens to turn out and vote. I would add one additional task. When citizens vote, I would urge them to vote for candidates who exhibit the following traits: sincerity, personal integrity, humility, courtesy, wisdom and charity. Our democracy will thrive and prosper for future generations with leaders who possess those traits.
Foot-long prices: I miss the $5 foot-long sandwiches at Subway. I hated the commercials, but the price was right. The foot-long veggie is now $8.29, and a 6-inch is $5.79. Essentially, we’re getting half the sandwich we used to get and we’re paying 79 cents more for it.
God controls climate: During the late ’70s through the early ’80s, we had a period of the coldest winters. The same people feared for an ice age if we did not save the planet through drastic measures. The climate seesaws and God, not man, is in control. This is about more government control and loss of freedom.
Politics and police: Speak Out contributors have blamed individuals who have been killed or injured by police for not complying with the authorities. All you have to do, they say, is to submit to lawful authority. But after attacks on the Capitol police, failure by the politically connected to submit to legal subpoenas and a former president’s thievery of top secret documents, they say nothing. I guess those that don’t comply with authority are OK as long as they share the same political agenda.
Unemployment confusion: Our country claims to have added 875,000 jobs, but imagine going to your neighborhood grocery store at 4:30 p.m. and the deli is closed because nobody came to work? It’s happened more than once. What gives? What a crock.
