An Aurora man has been charged in connection with a shooting on Elgin’s west side late Saturday night, Elgin police said.

Wilmer Evaristo, 21, of the 1800 block of Lily Street, was arrested after officers responded to a charge of shots fired about 10:55 p.m. in the 2100 block of Royal Boulevard, a news release said. No details were provided on the nature of the shooting or how Evaristo was connected to it.

Evaristo was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a street gang member, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, no Firearm Owner’s Identification Card, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and reckless discharge of a firearm, Elgin said.

His bond was set at $100,000.

Aline Acosta, 20, also of the 1800 block of Lily Street in Aurora, was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated fleeing and eluding, police said. Her bond was set at $20,000, police said.
