This is for Lori Lightfoot, the so-called mayor of Chicago. You want a professional team? They’re getting paid millions of dollars to play on a field when high schools have better fields. Why can’t she do something? Oh, I forgot. She’s always traveling to England and everywhere else trying to get businesses to come here. Straighten out your own city. Soldier Field is an embarrassment. You have dry spots and it is not a professional field.

During the late ’70s through the early ’80s, we had a period of the coldest winters. The same people feared for an ice age if we did not save the planet through drastic measures. The climate seesaws and God, not man, is in control. This is about more government control and loss of freedom.

Many contributors to Speak Out have blamed individuals who have been killed or injured by police for not complying with the authorities. All you have to do, they say, is to submit to lawful authority. But after attacks on the Capitol police, failure by the politically connected to submit to legal subpoenas and a former president’s thievery of top secret documents, they say nothing. I guess those that don’t comply with authority are OK as long as they share the same political agenda.

Our country claims to have added 875,000 jobs, but imagine going to your neighborhood grocery store at 430 p.m. and the deli is closed because nobody came to work? It’s happened more than once. What gives? What a crock.

Every week, driving my car south on Southwest Highway near 115th Street, I pass a fenced-in sports practice field. An unknown person or persons placed red plastic cups in the fence links to spell a message: Think Positive! The red color is now fading but the affirmative vibe remains. Thanks, fence artists, for a weekly reminder of the value of positive thoughts!
