Naperville City Councilwoman Jennifer Bruzan Taylor has announced she is withdrawing from the state representative race in the 41st District for “personal family matters.”
“My focus at this time needs to be on the health of my family, and the rigors involved in running an effective campaign will not allow that to happen,” Bruzan Taylor said in a statement issued Friday afternoon.
“Many people say their family comes first. My decision backs up my words with action. This was a tough decision, but one that needed to be made. I want to thank all those who helped and supported me in this campaign.”
She said she remains committed to her council position and the responsibilities associated with that.
Bruzan Taylor ran unopposed for the House seat in the June Republican primary and would have faced state Rep. Janet Yang Rohr, D-Naperville, in the November general election.
She was elected to the council in April 2021 and previously worked as a Cook County assistant state’s attorney and a constitutional law teacher at North Central College in Naperville.
She is a married mother of three who received bachelor’s degrees in history and women’s studies from Vanderbilt University and a law degree from Boston College.
