Montgomery has approved a plan for a truck storage facility at 1975 Aucutt Road in the village.
The move comes just months after the village gave the OK to a warehouse development that included a truck storage area at the southeast corner of Rochester and Gusto drives.
The facility on Aucutt Road will include parking for a maximum of 79 trucks.
The petitioner Ruben Hernandez requested some variances for the facility, which is set for a site zoned M-1 manufacturing district, according to village documents. An existing building on the site will not be modified for the project.
In a report, village officials said that the Montgomery Planning and Zoning Commission held a public hearing on July 7 about the proposal. Several adjacent business owners attended the meeting and expressed concerns about the use planned for the site as well as the variances requested, according to the report.
Concerns raised included traffic, the environmental impact due to proximity to wetlands and a floodplain, noise and dust from the site and the aesthetics of the truck storage area.
The Village Board approved the proposal and variances to some parking design standards for the truck storage area and a waiver of the landscaping screening requirements along the south and west boundaries of the outdoor storage area and to allow the landscape screening on the eastern side to be located on the interior of the fence.
