Thank you for a most interesting story about the code talkers during the Vietnam War and chief Wanatah. I think I read about the code talkers being recruited for World War II and the fine job that they did then. We need more of these human interest stories, and the Southtown writers are providing them.

To Marv in Bridgeview: Over 10 hospitals in our area were started by Christians and carry Christian names like Little Company of Mary (now OSF), and Christ Community Hospital (now Advocate Christ Medical Center). I don’t know if white people started them or not because that does not matter, and there are a few Christian missions for the homeless in downtown Chicago. These institutions are 1,000 points of light and are not poison as you say.

Have great respect for the police, but just read about the shooting three times of a 64-year-old woman that had a knife. Police are trained to use Tasers, clubs, etc., to subdue an unruly person. There were two officers there that could have done this very easily. Why was it necessary to pull your guns and shoot some 64-year-old person dead, someone that was having mental issues? Action like this contributes to the dislike of the police. The police have always been on my list of highly rated people, but this makes me sick.

I noticed how Republicans who identify as pro freedom are against ANTIFA, which means anti-fascist. Republicans are so confused and lacking knowledge that being pro fascist is a positive for them! And people wonder why this country is on a downward spiral.
