Highflying acrobats, BMX stunts, singing, dancing and more make up Six Flags Great America’s new summer show, KINETIC.

The performance aims to thrill audiences of all ages with a backdrop of a city scene coming alive, taking more than 30 performers through their morning and into the night with colorful visuals, catchy tunes and special effects.

Six Flags entertainment manager David Major produced and directed the show. He said the cast is made up of local talent, some of whom have acted in previous shows at the theme park.

Major said one special feature he added for KINETIC is the interaction with the audience.

Even before the performance begins, as the audience gets seated, some of the performers are out and about getting show-goers pumped and ready for the fast-paced display they’re about to see.

In some of the scenes, show-goers are asked to move their bodies along with the performers.

“I love breaking what we call the fourth wall and bringing the audience to an immersive experience,” Major said.

Caitlin Kepple, spokeswoman for the theme park, said this is one of the most exciting shows the park has produced because so many of its elements are ones normally set outdoors, but they’re indoors on a stage.

Ramps where BMX bikes and scooters are made to do stunts by their riders, and a fake wall where acrobats fall from and are bounced back to by a trampoline are custom-fit for the stage of the Grand Music Hall. All this to a soundtrack of popular songs.

This is the first summer show since 2019. It lasts approximately 30 minutes. Seating is first-come, first-served, and is accessible to wheelchairs and carriages. There are some strobe light effects.

KINETIC runs Thursdays through Mondays until Aug. 7.
