The tragic mass shooting during the Highland Park’s July 4 parade was/is national news as it should be. However, we didn’t read one word about Chicago’s other July 4 weekend shootings where 10 people were killed and supposedly at least 62 were wounded. Why not? I guess the amount of Chicago’s individual Black shootings don’t rate news coverage? Where’s Jackson, Sharpton, Black Lives Matters, our police and the good people in the Black community who want it to end?

Our Constitution is the oldest surviving charter of government. More than 230 years later, in a society that its frame workers could never imagine, it no longer works to protect the majority of its citizens. Lawmakers are too spineless to amend it, police officers have been all but stripped of their police powers and courts are more concerned with the rights of criminals than the people who live in danger around them.

In 2021, Gov. Pritzker signed a criminal justice reform bill to end cash bail by 2023, despite law enforcement organizations urging him to veto it. By year’s end, more than 1,000 people were murdered in Cook County. Thanks to the revolving door policy of State’s Attorney Kim Foxx and the so-called reform bill, that shocking murder total was the highest since 1996! This Fourth of July weekend, police reported eight deaths among 68 people shot in Chicago. Yet our hypocrite governor said after the shooting in Highland Park he was furious more innocent lives were taken by gun violence.

If the maniac killer Robert Crimo’s slaughter of men, women and children in Illinois doesn’t deserve the immediate death penalty, nothing ever will. Bring back the death penalty. Why should we feed these animals that have committed rotten, heinous crimes.

I believed and still believe that my contact was not criminal. That’s what former convicted Ald. Patrick Daley Thompson try to sell to a judge before she sentenced him to prison. On one side, according to his lawyer, Thompson did good works, whatever that means. On the other hand, he lied to the IRS and cheated on his taxes. Perhaps the only mistake Thompson made was not changing his middle name of Daley and making it off his last name.
