It’s time to praise the bureaucrats in our federal and state governments for saving our democracy. Their loyalty to our Constitution and the rule of law saved us from a coup that was aided and abetted by the former president. Without their refusal to submit to the illegal, insurrectionist demands of the president, and to risk personal attacks from him and his supporters, this American experiment in democracy would have collapsed.

Denny, Orland Park

I believe we have become such a divided country due to Trump continuing to promote the lie he won an election he didn’t win. Gore lost the presidency and went back to a meaningful private life. So did George H.W. Bush and Jimmy Carter. So, why doesn’t Trump admit he lost? He knows he did.

The worst first half of the year for stocks in 52 years, thanks to Biden, Pelosi, Schumer, Yellen and the rest of the Democrats. Crashing the economy, the markets, the highest inflation in over 40 years, the highest gas prices ever, they have no idea what they or their policies are doing, and even less of an idea how to salvage a sinking ship. It’s time to put some adults in charge rather than these juveniles that only know how to print money and use it to buy votes.

Jack, Oak Forest

You know the United States is turning evil when you have a communist Democratic Party calling conservative Republicans radicals because they stand for the unborn infant life that the Democrats want to murder. Then you have the Democrats for whom the death of an unborn is celebrated. Remember people we all one day will stand before God and be judged.

As I record this Speak Out, it’s 12:50 p.m. on our nation’s Independence Day. Instead of recalling all of this nation’s great traditions and the great men and women who made us what hopefully is the greatest country in the world today, the news is filled of the shooting of our fellow Americans. I hope all you gun nuts out there are as happy as you can be. You have a super patriotic Supreme Court defending your precious Second Amendment rights. I’m sure the dead and the wounded in Highland Park will appreciate those precious rights.
