With the Supreme Court reversal of Roe v. Wade, Democrats have been handed an opportunity for the midterm elections. If they could undo the ongoing supply chain problems, make some headway at the southern border, get inflation moving in the right direction and realize taxpayers are beyond tapped out and done with their spending habits, they’d have a chance. But, they’ve proved over and over they have absolutely no plan for any of it. Reelect them in November.

Mary, Tinley Park

It’s so disgusting hearing Nancy Pelosi Joe Biden and the rest of the hateful Democrats. The Democrats are mad about abortion being overturned. These people are unhappy because of saving unborn babies from being murdered. Anyone with common sense shouldn’t support these Democrats. Hey Nancy your mother didn’t abort you. The women that are mad, you made the choice to have unprotected sex. You don’t have the right to murder a baby.

Bob, Frankfort

I read Lori Lightfoot pledged half a million dollars in funds to support abortion access to residents and also nonresidents who travel here from other states for the procedure. The money will pay for their transportation, lodging and care. So, money will be going to pay for people who don’t even live in the city or county while the city suffers from an understaffed police force, a rise in violent crime, a lagging economy and a host of other ills.

Joan, Oak Forest

I see Republicans are mad that Lori Lightfoot said something mean about Clarence Thomas. I bet they would be OK if she just tweeted instead.

Frank, Palos Hills

Senior abuse. Picture this, June 25 not Fourth of July, senior napping in his swing disturbed by a cherry bomb fire cracker explosion. Not good for anybody’s heart.

George, Burbank

Since thankfully we are coming to the end of this so-called woke pride month, here’s what the acronym LGBTQ should represent. Let’s get Biden to quit. Only problem there is the overwhelmed and challenged Vice President Kamala Harris is next in line. Good grief Charlie Brown.

Leo, Oak Lawn

To Marv in Bridgeview: Much effective spreading of the word is done neighbor to neighbor, or person to person. This requires no cash giving.

White Sox front office, to boost attendance at games played during the week, prices on tickets, beer, pop, accessories and parking should be lower. That would bring families with children to go to more games. Both management and fans will benefit.

Mr. G, Chicago

Now that the primary is over. Let’s put politics aside until the fall. The average voter knows who they are voting for. If you want change there are various candidates who can supply that change. Some voters will vote straight down party lines, others will study the candidates and measure what he or she will do for the city, county, state or country. Check your mailbox. The political advertising will be minimal now.

Mary D., Palos Heights

The terms Republican, conservative and GOP no longer apply to the group of seditionists, extremists, trolls, conspiracy theorists, religious zealots and crack pots that have usurped what was once the Republican Party. No thanks.

Greg, Lockport

Well after watching Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony in front of the Jan. 6 committee, all I can say is former President loser Trump was a complete psycho. Now, we know anybody who supports this man in the future is also psychotic if they can really look up to a man like this who wanted to join the violence, who let people in who had AR-15s and told them to take the magnetrons down so the all these armed people could come into his little speech area.

JK, Tinley Park

A witness testified that someone told her what Donald Trump was doing. Well someone told me that I don’t have to pay my taxes. So this April I am good to go.

Jim, South Holland

I hope that Bob, Leo, Sue and others understand that it is our democracy that allows them to speak out. It would be even better if they had their facts straight. They apparently believe what they hear on the radio or Fox rather than what is on tape right before your eyes. Trump has lied, cheated, bullied and stolen including from charities. His own staff are telling us what he did to stay in office and steal our democracy which you now enjoy.

Victor, Mokena

I’m still for another Trump presidency but also believe Musk and Maher may be right when they said they liked and would vote for DeSantis if he decided to run. Both would be great, as they both put our country and people, first. I want to see what happens between now and 2024. However, both must be either president or secretary of state to firmly deal with any international situations that may arise.

RHS, Oak Forest

President Biden’s policies are not responsible for higher oil prices or for lower production. The 2020 agreement Donald Trump orchestrated with the top 23 oil exporting nations cut their production. Trump did this at the behest of United States oil companies that cried about the decline in oil prices and their profits because of the economic decline caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and also by Trump’s mismanagement of that crisis. That dirty deal cut world oil production by 10% and it is still in effect.

George, South Side

You are wrong, BJ of Hazel Crest. Black Lives Matter has gotten away with burning buildings and receiving millions of dollars of support from people and large organizations thinking that the money was going to help the Black communities, only to find out that not one Black benefited from the millions of dollars. Americans want to go back to when, under Trump, their lives were so much better. I was a Democrat once, too. They tell you what they are going to do and, once elected, sit back and do nothing.

Sharon, Palos Heights

It’s not a surprise Citadel is yet another business moving its headquarters from the high tax, crime ridden, poorly managed city of Chicago with its weak public school system, which is largely run by the Chicago Teachers Union. Texas and Florida, where there is no state income tax and better climates, are the largest beneficiaries of people and businesses escaping the rapidly declining city of Chicago, where it’s no longer safe to walk the streets, even in the center of the city.
