Elgin’s Fourth of July parade will require some roads to be closed but public parking decks and lots will be open, officials said.

Parade route streets will be shut down starting at 6 a.m. Monday and any cars not moved will be towed. The streets that will be affected are:

North Grove Avenue from Kimball Street to River Bluff Road;

Brook Street from Kimball Street to River Bluff Road;

River Bluff Road from Spring Street to North Grove Avenue;

Douglas Avenue from River Bluff Road to Chicago Street.

All other parking in downtown Elgin is free but city officials advise arriving early because a large parade crowd is expected. Parking decks are located at:

Centre parking garage, corner of Symphony Way and Douglas Avenue;

Spring Street garage, corner of Spring Street and Highland Avenue;

Fulton Street garage, corner of Fulton and Spring streets.

The parade steps off at 9 a.m. at Douglas and Slade avenues, heads south and ends about noon at the intersection of Douglas and Highland.

Parade volunteers will be wearing white T-shirts adorned with the parade theme and logo, “There Is No Place Like Home.” They can help guide attendees to public restrooms and places to get medical treatment and can provide other assistance.

Food trucks will be parked along Grove Avenue starting at 4 p.m. for those attending the Fourth of July concert at Festival Park, 132 S. Grove Ave., which starts at 7 p.m. The fireworks display along the Fox River will start about 9:20 p.m.
