Think voting’s fraudulent? Become an election judge

DuPage County voters who believe the baseless lies about the integrity of our elections should step up to serve as a much-needed election judge. Those ill-informed grouches complaining to the hardworking poll workers because identification isn’t required would learn that every voter’s signature is compared to their voter registration signature by a Republican election judge and a Democrat election judge, which safeguards against voter fraud.

My experience working as a judge on election days at various polling places in DuPage County left me with an informed confidence in our election process but with a great concern for the lack of election judges able to handle the long days, physical requirements and technical problems that arise.

It makes me sad when I see pundits and talk show hosts making fun of the ranks of senior citizens who serve as election judges. Suffering from reduced stamina, arthritis and the usual afflictions affecting us senior citizens, I’ve had to retire from serving as an election judge, as has my 93-year-old neighbor and my 89 year-old friend who have served tirelessly for many years. We’ve served our community and fulfilled our civic duty; it is time for others to step up and take our places as election judges.

We are all tired of finger pointing rather than finding solutions — become part of the solution — train and serve as an election judge.

No thought needed — raise gun purchase age to 21

We have read and heard from some of our elected representatives that raising the age of gun purchases to 21 years old is a no-brainer. Yes, it’s a no-brainer. Those elected officials who reject that justifiable change have no brains.

Dems control legislature so why no gun control laws?

The Illinois Senate is comprised of 40 Democrats and 18 Republicans.

The Illinois House has 73 Democrats and 45 Republicans.

Yet the Democrats blame the Republicans for not supporting gun control.

Their majority in the two governing bodies could easily enact gun control laws.

Chicago is the perfect example of where they have done absolutely nothing to stop gun violence.

The Democrats are the perfect example of “all blow and no show.”
