Frontier Sports Complex fitness court opens Thursday

A grand opening celebration for the new Frontier Sports Complex Fitness Court will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, June 16.

The new amenity, described as a “dynamic circuit-training system designed for use by teens and adults,” is adjacent to the 95th Street Community Plaza at 3109 Cedar Glade Drive.

Naperville Park District officials and guest speakers will speak at the opening event, followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony and demonstrations of how the equipment can be used, a news release said. The event also will include giveaways for as long as supplies last.

Part of a national initiative launched by National Fitness Campaign, the “fitness court allows users to leverage their own body weight to get a complete workout outdoors.” the release said. “There are an estimated 250 fitness courts installed nationally, each of which is free to the public, adaptable for all fitness levels and works with a fitness court app.”

The cost of the equipment and installation was funded, in part, with a $25,000 grant from the National Fitness Campaign in partnership with the Illinois Park and Recreation Association and $50,000 for title sponsorship from Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, the release said.

Other sponsors include StretchLab Naperville West, F3 Naperville and the Rathbun, Cservenyak & Kozol law firm.
