Same principle applies: The Republican party, under the control of the NRA and the gun manufacturers, continually and relentlessly keep telling us that “guns don’t kill, it is the people that are using them.” Therefore, no gun restrictions. If that is the case, then heroin, fentanyl and all of the other illegal drugs should no longer be illegal because “drugs don’t kill, it is the people using them.”

Elephant in the room: Is it a secret as to why the Republican Party is skirting around the gun law issues when it is the white elephant in the room? Sure you can tighten up security at schools but how about all the other places that are open to public gatherings? Why do gun owners have assault weapons when statics show the upsurge in shootings once Congress no longer banned them? Currently assault rifles are the most common gun in mass shootings. Does the NRA own those politicians, who are obviously skirting around implementing the possibility of new gun laws that could confront this issue?

Vets deserve gun rights: How many young men and women under the age of 21 have died in the service of their country? They had to carry guns and in some instances kill people. They gave their lives so our Constitutional rights could be guaranteed. Yet every time there is a mass shooting, the cry to take away our guns and now to ensure that anyone under the age of 21 should not have a gun. Really? 18-year-olds and anyone who has served their country has earned the right to have a gun — any kind of gun.

People first, bugs second: No mow May. It’s a nice sentiment but I didn’t see any towns nearby, e.g., Aurora, Geneva, Batavia, Naperville, etc., that suspended their mowing enforcement. A high fine and a weed filled lawn for the rest of the year, just so some bugs can thrive, doesn’t do it for me. Humans first!

Time for her to go: Marjorie Taylor Greene, the inarticulate congresswoman from Georgia, is now warning us about government surveillance and dangerous cheeseburgers made from fake meat. If it’s true that the replacement theory is very real, I only hope she’s among the first to go. And soon.
