Eight Naperville residents are among the 2,600 winners of National Merit Scholarships financed by U.S. colleges and universities.
Colleges select winners from the finalists in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program who plan to attend their institution. These awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.
Recipients include:
Patrick Aabram, a graduate of Naperville Central High School, who is receiving a scholarship from the University of South Florida to study software engineering;
Ian Altekruse, a graduate of Metea Valley High school in Aurora, who is receiving a scholarship from Drake University to study actuarial science;
Jihoon Baek, a graduate of Naperville North High School, who is receiving a scholarship from Vanderbilt University to study international law;
Christina Gu, a graduate of Naperville North, who is receiving a scholarship from the University of Texas at Dallas to study dentistry;
David Ho, a graduate of Waubonsie Valley High School in Aurora, who is receiving a scholarship from the University of Southern California to study computer science;
Mohammad Ahmad Khan, a graduate of Naperville North, who is receiving a scholarship from the University of Texas at Dallas to study actuarial science;

Karisa A. Liaw, a graduate of Naperville Central, who is receiving a scholarship from Case Western University to study medicine;
