Check before you vote: As I look over a Voter’s Guide from Illinoisfamily.org, I see Elgin’s State Rep. Anna Moeller is running again this year, but now for the first time I believe she has a Republican opposing her. I wonder how many residents/parents are aware of everything Ms. Moeller supports? I know parents and others are busy with day-to-day issues and may not dive into actual issues confronting us and how some running for office are actually “woke,” for lack of a better word. I urge everyone to get a voter’s guide, look up our area on page 16 and see what is actually being proposed for the citizens and their children in the 43rd District that includes Elgin.
Seeking perfection: In a more perfect world, this country would see a shortage of guns and bullets instead of microchips and baby formula.
Compromise a good thing: I read a recent article about (Aurora mayor/gubernatorial candidate) Richard Irvin and his past relationship with Democratic elected officials. He was criticized for working with or agreeing with any Democrat issues or even being seen with a Democrat. This type of critical party loyalty is the main reason we are a nation divided. How can the voter expect that a two-party system can work if the main proposal in both parties is agree to disagree no matter the issue? I’m not an Richard Irving supporter but I do like to see cooperation and bipartisanship as the alternative that party loyalty represents!
Blame the guns: Another mass shooting! Some of our creative Congress members are saying, “This isn’t a gun issue, it’s a people issue.” Blaming the people doesn’t address the issue of how that same finger can access a gun’s trigger. Australia seems to have quietly solved this problem using a common sense approach, tougher gun laws.
Priorities confused: If only the state of Texas was as obsessed with the well-being of the living as it is with the unborn, it’s likely those victims in Uvalde would be alive today.
He’s a has-been: Enough of Tiger Woods already. His days have come and gone and there are a lot of other pro golfers that deserve more time in the limelight. As for Wood, his sordid past does not put him in the same class of immortals such as Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer.
Time to resign: Chicago Mayor Lightfoot and police Superintendent Brown should resign due to incompetence to solve the city shootings. Enough is enough!
No defense: The 18-year-old who killed 10 people in Buffalo, New York, was simply brainwashed into believing white people were being replaced by Blacks and immigrants. We all need to stand up to all of this violence first. We need to object to all of the white supremacist and any other means of hate groups, regardless of race. And stop hiding behind the Second Amendment. The gun that was used in Buffalo should not have been able to be to be purchased by the shooter, who at one time had a mental ill evaluation.
