player ready...The Montgomery Village Board this week approved a special use and variance requests for a Trans Lines warehouse and distribution facility to be built at the southeast corner of Rochester and Gusto drives in the village.
The 20,000-square-foot facility on a 15-acre site will include four loading docks, two drive-thru maintenance bays and office space for the company. A portion of the property will be used for storage of semi-tractor trucks and trailers.
During public hearings on the plan over the past few weeks, neighbors raised concerns about the development, focusing on potential flooding issues, traffic and noise brought on by the project.
The developer has said a third of the entire property will be devoted to stormwater management to deal with any water issues.
Drew Petkunas, president and owner of Trans Lines, said overnight truck traffic from the facility will be minimal, and that the company only transports dry goods.
Company officials have said a berm and extensive landscaping at the site will help screen the facility from neighbors and act to reduce the impact of lights and noise from the operation.
After two contentious meetings with large crowds, the Montgomery Planning and Zoning Commission earlier this month recommended approval of the special use and variance requests.
