Spring too short: Now that we’ve enjoyed our annual week of spring, we need to prepare ourselves for the arrival of heat waves, discomfort indexes and melanoma. Is it really asking too much for our four seasons to be spread over a few months rather than a few days?
Millionaires’ campaign: Ken Griffin recently added $25 million to his previous $20 million donation to Richard Irvin’s gubernatorial campaign fund. Gov. J.B. Pritzker is a wealthy individual who can match these funds and has exceeded those amounts. The Illinois state campaign laws don’t apply donation limitations to these circumstances. How is this ethical?
Define nightmare: There are certainly a lot of negative ads about Richard Irvin on TV sponsored by the Illinois Democratic Party. Does that mean it’s correct when he claims to be the Democrats’ worst nightmare?
Small miracle? The most amazing thing about the White Sox loss to Cleveland Monday night wasn’t the six runs scored by the opposition in the ninth inning or the four fielding errors committed by the home team or even the eight RBI’s after the 7th inning by Josh Naylor. To my mind it’s the fact that Sox Manager Tony LaRussa stayed awake for all 11 innings.
GOP dictatorship: It’s becoming very obvious that the Republican Party wants a dictatorship government. They want to limit who can vote, lie to you about issues even when you see it on tape, blame everyone else. Now deny women the right to make decisions about their own health issues. Their goal is to control everything and protect the ultra-rich people and businesses. Beware, your democracy is in danger, people.
No inflation with Trump: Some say the Republicans wouldn’t have done a better job on (controlling) inflation. Well, it’s Joe Biden’s policies that has caused this inflation. There wouldn’t been an inflation if Trump was still president.
Laborers’ school is work: Apprentices don’t just go to school and spend their leisure time partying in dorms away from mom and dad. They work at a reduced wage in the field to get experience. The apprenticeship programs are paid for by contributions taken from the checks of the journeymen and women in those trades. Unions are self contained. If teachers want a free apprenticeship, no problem, let the teachers union pay for it like we did.
