Trumped-up court: When questioned by a subcommittee, the last three appointed Supreme Court judges denied they had a biased opinion when it comes to Roe v. Wade. Funny that Trump knew differently? He stated in his 2016 election campaign that he would only assign Supreme Court appointees who would help overturn that decision. It appears unethical manipulation of the appointing process has Mitch McConnell and the Republicans accomplishing their mission to deny a woman’s right to choose!
Abortion OK, death penalty not: I can never understand why Democrats thought it was all right to have an abortion, yet they didn’t believe in the death penalty. Death penalty you’re killing a criminal. Abortion, you’re killing an innocent baby. There’s such a thing as adoption. That would eliminate the need for abortion.
Pensioner presidents: While the Republicans and Dems trade barbs over the cognitive deficiencies of their party leaders, the real issue is will this great nation of ours ever be led again by someone who isn’t a platinum member of AARP? Since Joe Biden will be 81 and Donald Trump 77 on Nov. 5, 2024, the greatest race of all might be their attempts to outrun senility rather than the presidency of the United States!
Define free speech: Republicans claiming they protect free speech really mean speech they agree with or speech that helps their party whether they believe it or not. A party that stands for free speech does not burn books and it does not punish a business, Disney, for disagreeing with controversial political policy. Republicans do support speech that is irresponsible, like the big lie, and give a platform to those who espouse lies and crazy conspiracies.
My way or no way: I get the impression writers of this column would really like our country to have only one political party, theirs. Also only one type of news programs, theirs and theirs only. No need for discussion of alternate views. They are right and everyone else is wrong. We need competition, it keeps the other side on their toes. I do not try to have answers for all the problems this country has, but having only one side dominate is not one of them.
Illegal car treatments: More people are tinting their car windows darker so the police cannot see inside. Also, rear license plate covers, whether clear or dark, are illegal in Illinois. Why isn’t anything being done about this for our safety.
