A man who kidnapped, robbed and raped a college student before demanding he take her to the train station in Elgin has been sentenced to 101 years in prison.
Justin Dalcollo, 27, of Nicholasville, Kentucky, will serve a minimum of 85% of the sentence under state law for his actions on March 22, 2019, which started about 3:30 p.m. when he used a gun to force his way into the woman’s car at Bloomingdale Court Mall on Army Trail Road.
He then had her drive to a bank ATM in Glendale Heights to withdraw $300 from her account before making her to drive to locations in Hanover Park, Bartlett and the Grand Victoria Casino parking deck in Elgin, where sexually assaulted her, prosecutors said.

Following the attack, he ordered her to drive him to an Elgin convenience store where he had her call him a cab and drive him to the Elgin train station to meet the ride, reports said.
The woman went to the hospital, where she reported the assault and the Bloomingdale Police Department was notified. Dalcollo was arrested in Chicago the following day, and has been held in DuPage County jail without bond since then, a news release said.
The case was prosecuted jointly by the DuPage and Kane county state’s attorney’s offices, and a jury found Dalcollo guilty in December 2021 on six counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and one count each of armed robbery and aggravated kidnapping.
All of the charges are class X felonies other than the weapons counts.
“For the victim in this case, a relaxing, enjoyable spring break spent at home with family and friends came to an abrupt end on March 22, 2019, when Justin Dalcollo kidnapped her at gunpoint and sexually assaulted her,” DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said in the release.
“While the memories of that horrible day may fade with time, time cannot erase what happened. The victim, and the entire community, have been harmed by this defendant’s abhorrent behavior and demand justice. With this young woman’s amazing courage to confront Mr. Dalcollo eye to eye and her refusal to become a silent victim, justice has been served. He has most certainly earned every year of his one-hundred-and-one-year sentence.”
Kane County Assistant State’s Attorney Lori Schmidt said, “This survivor has walked a long road to get to this day. Her bravery throughout this nightmare has been nothing short of remarkable, and her strength has been inspirational.”
