Something’s missing: Republicans give Kevin McCarthy a standing ovation for failing to take a stand against Trump after Jan. 6. It appears McCarthy is a party hero because he wouldn’t confront Trump with the truth? What am I missing here?

Easy to misunderstand? I could be wrong but something tells me Marjorie Taylor Greene actually believes martial law is named after someone named Marshall and martial arts was started by a quick-tempered fellow named Art.

Don’t forget: If you’re sickened with disgust at Putin’s efforts at extermination of Ukrainian people, remember those here in America who have supported Putin with words of praise. If you are horrified at Putin’s desire to destroy democracy in Ukraine and elsewhere, remember those in our country who have acted to destroy democracy here in America. Remember all this especially when you are casting your vote.

Nothing’s free: I commend mayoral candidate Willie Wilson for his thoughts on helping his fellow citizens. My problem is with these long lines at the various gas stations and the traffic congestion they cause. Each municipality must assign their police officers to maintain order. Wilson says he is not spending taxpayer moneys with these giveaways. But who is paying the salaries of these police officers? While they are at these stations, they are being taken away from their normal duties. The various departments should invoice Wilson for their time.

Don’t judge generosity: Although I agree athletes are grossly overpaid, isn’t it the fault of the leagues willingness in offering such outrageous salaries? Who started this madness? However, I do not agree with judging how the athletes spend it. Being generous is such a praiseworthy virtue. Some givers don’t need or want recognition. Let’s give everyone the benefit of the doubt. Also, money is not the only way to be generous. Many athletes donate their time and talent.

Codifying hate: Although all the Ten Commandments are great moral codes to live by, only three, and even that number is debatable, could be considered part of our civil law. Which of the seven, other than no theft, no murder and no lying (in a courtroom), should be illegal? When asked about the greatest commandment, Jesus mentioned two: Love God and love thy neighbor. Another way of saying that is do not hate. Unfortunately, some choose to hate many of their neighbors, especially those most marginalized, and even want their hate civilly codified.
