During a traffic stop made about 7:15 p.m. Saturday, April 23, in the area of Fleetwood Drive and McLean Boulevard, deputies had cause to search the vehicle and found a loaded Glock P80 handgun, the release said.
Vehicle passenger Romont E. Bowman, 30, of the 1800 block of McKool Avenue, Streamwood, was arrested and charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a firearm with a valid FOID card.
Another vehicle occupant, Avisha Easterling, 30, of the 1900 block of East 66th Street, Chicago, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
In the second incident about 12:55 a.m. Sunday, April 24, a search conducted as part of a traffic violation stop in the 1200 block of St. Charles Street turned up a stolen Smith and Wesson M&P Shield M2.0 handgun loaded with a 30-round magazine.
Two men were taken into custody, and the case is being reviewed for felony charges by the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office, the release said.
Sheriff Ron Hain credited their success in recovering the illegal weapons to the training deputies have received, which has given them “all of the skills and tools needed to proactively seek out those involved in crime and bring them to justice,” he said in the release.
