Make Russia pay: How long should Russian sanctions remain? This is an easy one: as long as Russia remains in Ukraine and until it rebuilds Ukraine to its pre-invasion status. No brainer.
The American way: Only in America can an obscure federal judge (Kathryn Kimball Mizelle) in a state of confusion (Florida), with no background in either medicine or science, determine the fate of millions of Americans with the stroke of a pen.
Planning ahead: As far as I can tell, the U.S. currently has the same capacity to produce oil as before. No already functioning pipelines or oil fields have been shut down. Oil companies are businesses and are making their decisions based on what they predict for the future. As the number of gas-powered vehicles decreases, they will have to rely on a smaller base of consumers to maintain profitability. That doesn’t sound good for the consumers.
Always ready to go: Another tragic event took place, this time in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where a Black man was shot and killed by a police officer. It will take a while to find out if the shooting was justified, but one thing is certain, attorney Benjamin Crump was Johnny on the spot to represent the family of the individual killed. I wonder if Crump has some type of special watch or some other gadget that gets him to the scene of all these shootings so quickly.
Not much of a singer: I see that Jussie Smollett has a new song out. Actually he’s not even singing, he’s talking. My suggestion is don’t quit your day job. Oh, that’s right, you don’t have one.
It pays to be elected: An Evanston woman was recently sentenced to prison and fined $100,000 for insider trading. Yet many members of Congress still make millions on insider information and few are prosecuted. The bills Congress has passed to prevent this criminal offense are full of loopholes. If convicted, the fine is usually only $200, but is often waived by House or Senate ethics officials. And they wonder why no one trusts them.

Not their fault: Blaming Biden for inflation is like blaming Trump for COVID-19. Neither one of them caused the events but each event occurred on their watch so they are responsible for dealing with it. There is no magical panacea to cure inflation. Fortunately we are in a period of low unemployment, unlike the ’80s, so raising interest rates to choke off money supply may cause the inflationary pressure to subside.
