A Sunday morning garage fire that spread to an attached home caused $150,000 in damage and left the south side house uninhabitable, according to the Naperville Fire Department.
Firefighters were called to the 1200 block of Cromwell Lane about 11 a.m. and arrived to find two cars on fire in the driveway and flames extending from the garage up to the second floor living space and attic, a fire department report said.
It took about 20 minutes to extinguish the fire with the help of 24 department staff and 10 pieces of fire equipment, the report said.
Two residents who were home at the time were able to escape before the fire department arrived, and no injuries were reported.
Five people in total were displaced after the Naperville Transportation, Engineering, and Development department determined the house could not be occupied.
The fire’s cause remains under investigation.
