The Harris Theater for Music and Dance has released its 2022-23 lineup of shows, with 28 performances including the HTP Mainstage, the Mix at Six series, the Chamber Music series and the Family series.
“Over this past year, artists and audiences have shared what a moving and powerfully healing experience it has been to gather for live performance once again,” said Lori Dimun, the president and CEO of the Harris in the announcement Tuesday. “My hope this coming season is that audiences continue to return to cultural homes like the Harris Theater, to experience the magnificent gifts these artists have to share.”

The 2022-23 HTP Mainstage schedule includes seven performances:
“It Starts Now” (Sept. 8): The season kicks off with this mainstage production, which is Alejandro Cerrudo’s first independent project that encourages the audience to contemplate the nonlinear nature of time. Cerrudo was previously Hubbard Street Dance Chicago’s resident choreographer from 2008-2018 and this performance marks his first return to Harris since that residency.
“The Rite of Spring” and “common ground[s]” (Oct. 27-28): A specially assembled group of dancers from African countries will perform Bausch’s “The Rite of Spring.” Then Germaine Acogny, who is known as “the mother of contemporary African dance,” will perform with Malou Airaudo. The program is the first collaboration between Germany’s Pina Bausch Foundation, Senegal’s École des Sables and the UK’s Sadler’s Wells.

“Falling Out of Time: A Tone Poem in Voices” (Nov. 3): Based on David Grossman’s novel of the same name, Grammy-winning composer Osvaldo Golijov tells the story of parents mourning the death of their child.
“Patricia Sings Piaf” (Dec. 8): Patricia Racette debuts on the HTP mainstage with songs by Edith Piaf that cover love, loss and sorrow. She’ll be accompanied by pianist Craig Terry.
“The Glass Menagerie” (Feb. 23-25, 2023): Alina Cojocaru will dance the principal role in this Tennessee Williams show. Hamburg Ballet Artistic Director John Neumeier embraces the playwright’s goal to project the essence of human nature by using individual memories to tell the story.

“Alonzo King Lines Ballet” (May 5-6, 2023): Lines Ballet dancers will perform live alongside Grammy-winning vocalist Lisa Fischer, as well as jazz pianist, composer and MacArthur Fellow Jason Moran. The new work was created as part of the company’s 40th anniversary season.
“Isabel Leonard and Pablo Sáinz Villegas” (May 23, 2023): Guitarist Pablo Sáinz-Villegas and Grammy-winning mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard put on a vocal-guitar program that includes popular songs and arias from around the world.
The Harris Theater will also put on other performances as part of its Mix at Six series, Chamber Music series and Family series.
