It’s “back to normal” for the 2022 Oak Brook Park District Summer Concert Series at the Performing Arts Pavilion in Central Park West, 1500 Forest Gate Road.

Concerts took place in 2020 and 2021, but with restrictions due to COVID-19. The usual, open performances in front of a free admission crowd were adjusted, with advanced registration required to reserve a socially distance circle area for a fee.

“It’s absolutely wonderful to be back to our normal concerts setup,” said Karen Spandikow, a recreation manager for the Park District, who coordinates the concerts. “Things did go well the past two years, but it really is great to be back to our open concerts. We have lots of space for people to come and watch.”

Spandikow said each of the 2022 summer concerts have a 60s theme to coincide with the Park District’s 60th anniversary.

All five weekly concerts are from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursdays, beginning June 30 and concluding July 28. Any rained-out performances will be rescheduled for Aug. 4 and/or Aug. 11, except for the July 28 show, which would be moved to the gym in the Park District’s Family Recreation Center.

The summer concert series is:

June 30

Second Hand Soul

Motown, soul, and rock ‘n’ roll is a good description of the music played by this seven-piece Chicago band. Second Hand Soul includes hits of the 60s, songs of one-hit wonders, disco, and soulful songs in its set list.

July 7

The Wayouts

In late 2017, the four friends in The Wayouts discovered a shared love of bands, such as The Kinks and The Animals, and decided to put a band together, showcasing the music they love. The band’s set list focuses on well-known that usually don’t get much attention from other classic rock and oldies bands.

July 14

Rosie & The Rivets

Rosie & The Rivets combine danceable music of the 1950s and early 1960s with some current hits, adding a retro twist. Early rock, rockabilly, girl group, surf and soul are included in the offerings. Performances include period clothing, along with vintage guitars, drums, and microphones.

July 21

Kaleidoscope Eyes

Kaleidoscope Eyes is a Chicago acoustic Beatles tribute band formed about eight years ago to capture the feel, sound and vocal diversity of The Beatles.

July 28

The Neverly Brothers

The Neverly Brothers like to take their audiences on a guided tour of rock history, which includes vintage wardrobe changes and stories behind their chronological song sequence. Songs by Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, Rolling Stones and others are included during their performance.
