A 72-year-old woman was shot in the leg while walking with her daughter and granddaughter, who was in a stroller, Thursday afternoon on Chicago’s North Side, police said.
The woman, her daughter and the child were on a sidewalk in the 3100 block of North Broadway about 1:35 p.m. when the daughter heard what she thought was a car backfiring and saw her mother, who was shot, fall to the ground, according to a Chicago police report.
The Naperville woman was taken in good condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where she was treated for a gunshot wound to the upper left leg, the report said.
Police were reviewing film from several cameras in the busy neighborhood, including possible footage from CTA buses.
As of Friday afternoon, no one had been arrested, according to Chicago police spokeswoman Kellie Bartoli.
