Mattress store burns down in three-alarm fire in Albany Park

A mattress and discount store in Albany Park will have to be torn down after a three-alarm fire burned down the building and its roof collapsed Tuesday afternoon, Chicago Fire officials said.

Customers of JoJo Discount, 3040 W. Lawrence St., were able to leave the building and no one was injured, Chicago Fire spokesperson Larry Merritt said.

Firefighters were alerted to the fire at noon and the fire was put out by about 2 p.m., Merritt said.

“It’s pretty expensive damage,” Merritt said.
