There will be a race for county treasurer and some county board seats in Kendall County in the June 28 primary election.
The filing period for candidates for the primary election ended Monday.
Current Kendall County Treasurer Jill Ferko will face challenger Kit Kuhrt in the Republican primary for treasurer. Kuhrt is an Oswego Village Board member serving his first term in an elected office.
There are no other primary races for countywide offices. Kendall County Clerk and Recorder Debbie Gillette and Kendall County Sheriff Dwight Baird are uncontested in the Republican primary.
However, there are contested races for seats on the Kendall County Board.
The board consists of 10 members with five elected from District 1 and five from District 2 on a partisan basis, with four-year, staggered terms. However, this year all seats are on the ballot, which is required every 10 years by Illinois statute.
Six candidates are running in District 1 in the Republican primary. The incumbents are Brian DeBolt of Plano, Scott Gengler of Yorkville and Ruben Rodriguez of Yorkville.
Several challengers are running in District 1 in the Republican primary. They are Yorkville Ald. Jason Peterson, Tommy Okapal of Yorkville and Millbrook Trustee Seth Wormley.
One candidate, Todd Milliron of Yorkville, is running for a seat in District 1 on a newly-established political party called the Kendall County Party.

One candidate, Malanda Griffin of Yorkville, is running for a seat in District 1 on the Democratic ballot.
Judy Gilmour of Yorkville decided not to seek re-election for her seat in District 1 in the Republican primary and Amy Cesich has decided not to run again in District 1 in the Democratic primary.
Kendall County Board Chairman Scott Gryder decided not to run for re-election in the Republican primary in District 2. Gryder is running in the Republican primary for U.S. representative in the 14th Congressional District.
Robyn Vickers decided not to seek re-election for her seat in District 2 in the Democratic primary.
Six candidates are seeking election in District 2 in the Republican primary. The incumbents are Matt Kellogg and Dan Koukol. The others are former Oswego Village President and Oswego Township Supervisor Brian LeClercq and Oswego Township Trustees Donna Sawicki and Diane Selmer. Gabriella Shanahan of Joliet is also running in District 2 in the Republican primary.
Three Democrats are running for a seat in District 2 in the Democratic primary. The incumbent is Elizabeth Flowers. The others running are Zach Bachmann of Oswego and Brooke Shanley of Aurora.
The primary election is on June 28, with the general election set for Nov. 8.
