Swallow Cliff DAR chapter presents awards to 7
The Swallow Cliff Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, presented several special DAR awards recently.
Doreen DeBoer, founder of All God’s People, received the DAR Community Service Award and advanced to the DAR District IV competition, while six high school seniors received DAR Good Citizens Awards.
Those seniors included Elaine Andrews (Andrew High School), Sarah Du Moulin (Stagg High School), Aleksa Kirkus (Lemont), Jason Kowalewski (Oak Forest), Erica Munoz (Tinley Park) and Alexis Walker (Chicago Christian).
Kennedy appointed to Chicago Heights fire and police board
The Chicago Heights City Council recently approved the appointment of Tom Kennedy, former interim Chicago Heights fire chief, to the city’s Board of Fire and Police Commissioners.
Kennedy, who served as the city’s interim fire chief from January 2015 until January 2016, is filling a vacancy on the board left by the death last year of Commissioner Juan Briseno.
Kennedy also served for 35 years as a battalion chief with the Chicago Fire Department. He works at the Chicago Transit Authority as a general manager for fire protection, response and safety training. Kennedy will serve a three-year term on the board.
Richton Park’s Wallace initiated into leadership society
Daniel Wallace, a native of Richton Park, was recently initiated into the University of Kentucky Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa, the National Leadership Honor Society.
University Park’s Littles achieves nursing milestone
Tirae Littles of University Park was recently recognized by Lakeview College of Nursing during a White Coat Ceremony for achieving the transition into clinical practice within her bachelor’s degree nursing program.
