No excuses for students who can’t follow the rules
Students who fail to adhere to established rules governing acceptable behavior need to be reminded rules/laws in schools, communities, states and our nation are established to give guidance and order to society. In reading the story about “Disproportionate number of students suspended in some demographics,” in the Naperville Sun (2/25/22), it was disheartening to read there are a number of Naperville School District 203 students who continue to display behavior patterns that interfere with the environment and quality learning provided by very qualified and compassionate teachers and administrators in the school district.
Deviant behavior patterns are unacceptable as one goes from adolescent to teenager to adult! We should turn our attention in having all students — particularly those groups mentioned in the news article — model the behavior of students who follow established rules and regulations.

Why is it that a significant majority of students follow the rules for modeling and adhering to acceptable behavior standards and some do not? Kudos to the students who guide their behavior by law and order, and parents, teachers and administrators who hold them accountable to established behavior standards.
My commentary was developed as a school administrator for 35 years: principal of two junior high schools, two high schools – 11 years, and superintendent of schools of three school districts – 24 years.

Biden’s keeping his promises, especially on health care
I listened closely to President Biden’s State of the Union address Tuesday night. He rightly affirmed the need to repair and rebuild America.
Biden’s already kept his promises in many ways, including support for U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood’s Health Care Affordability Act, which was included in the American Rescue Plan. This has helped millions of American families save $2,400 a year on their health care premiums.
I certainly hope Congress is listening as closely as as I did, and will pass the rest of the measures President Biden is proposing very soon. There isn’t any time to waste.

Big praise for job well done at Fort Hill Activity Center
I recently joined the Fort Hill Activity Center and wanted to give a shout out to the Naperville Park District for a job well done. It’s a great asset to the Naperville area. With a talented and friendly staff in a bright and clean environment at an affordable price, I highly recommend it.

Only criteria for drawing legislative districts: population
It is my understanding that boundaries for Congressional districts are to be drawn based on one characteristic — the number of people are to be fairly equal in each. No other characteristic is supposed to be considered.
State legislature districts might have different requirements. They shouldn’t. The courts should enforce this single standard.
