New Starbucks coming to Tinley Park

Seattle-based Starbucks has apparently decided that Tinley Park is its kind of town.

The coffeehouse chain already has a drive-thru location at 159th Street and Harlem Avenue as well as in-store locations inside the Target and Jewel-Osco stores in town.

A new Starbucks is under construction at 171st Street and Harlem Avenue, just south of the recently opened 7-Eleven convenience store and gas station.

And, according to Mayor Michael Glotz, yet another Starbucks is planned for 171st Street and LaGrange Road at the former Fifth Third Bank building behind the CVS pharmacy at that intersection.

Worth golf course plans upgrades

Upgrades are planned for Worth’s village-owned Water’s Edge Golf Course, which will have a new management company this year.

Kansas City-based Orion became the official managers of the golf course as of Feb. 1.

Among improvements will be a new $5,000 computer reservation system.

Also coming is a new electronic message board that’s 7 feet tall and 14 feet wide and will be placed near 115th Street and Harlem Avenue. The board will provide outdoor advertising, public service notices, and emergency and civil defense notifications.

State officials have also approved video gaming for the clubhouse, which should be up and running by the end of the month. Gaming will be offered daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The village leases the property for Water’s Edge from the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago. Water’s Edge has an 18-hole golf course, driving range and clubhouse.
