A 15-year-old Oswego East High School student has been charged with felony aggravated battery after allegedly becoming aggressive with school officials and biting a school resource officer on the arm.

The Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office Tuesday authorized multiple charges against the teen, including aggravated battery against a school official and aggravated battery to a police officer, according to an Oswego Police Department press release.

The student was also charged with resisting/obstructing a peace officer and two counts of criminal damage to state-supported property, officials said.

The student, whose identity was not released due to the teen being a minor, was in the school office Tuesday morning to receive disciplinary action based on a previous misconduct issue, police said.

The student reportedly became upset, began yelling and turned aggressive against authorities, police said.

School officials told police the student punched and damaged walls in the office and battered a school official, according to police.

A school resource officer heard a loud commotion and responded to the office. While the officer attempted to intervene between the staff member and the student, the officer was battered and bit in the arm by the student, police said.

Additional police officers were called to the school to assist. The student was taken to the Oswego Police Station and evaluated by paramedics, according to the release.

No other students were involved in the incident, police said.

The student was eventually transported to the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center in St. Charles pending a juvenile court proceeding, police said.
