Glenview issued its fourth annual environmental sustainability awards on Feb. 1, upholding businesses, homeowners’ associations and local government agencies the village said took the lead on the preservation of the community’s natural resources.

Nine organizations were honored with separate awards for innovation, leadership, and education and outreach. To be eligible, entities had to be based in Glenview, be led by Glenview residents or otherwise serve Glenview residents.

Recipients in the innovation category included the Princeton Village Homeowner’s Association, who replanted milk weed and other native plants to support the local monarch butterfly community, and Ten Ninety Brewing Co., who repurposed waste from brewing as feed for livestock at a partner farm.

Awards in education and outreach went Collective Resource Compost and the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County, while leadership award recipients included to Friends of Downtown Glenview and Greenwise Organic Lawn Care.

“Its inspiring to see what people can do when they come together to do their part and help the environment,” said village president Michael Jenny.

The complete awards list is as follows:

Innovation: MFNS Tech, Inc., Intrinsic Landscaping, Princeton Village Homeowner’s Association, Ten Ninety Brewing Co.
