Chateau Bu-Sché closes in Alsip

Popular banquet hall Chateau Bu-Sché, which has been hosting weddings, corporate events and other private parties for 45 years, closed on New Year’s Eve.

“After 45 wonderful years of hosting beautiful events, it is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of Chateau Bu-Sché as of December 31, 2021,” read a post on the banquet hall’s Facebook page.

An answering machine said the venue at 11535 S. Cicero Ave. was closed. A message was not returned.

The facility had been listed for sale for at least six months with a price tag of $4.5 million.

Hog Wild opening delayed a week

Hog Wild Oak Lawn, which had been scheduled to open on Monday, pushed the opening back to Jan. 17, according to owner Rich Wagner.

The full-service restaurant is now scheduled to open next week in Oak Lawn’s Ranch Manor shopping center at 111th and Pulaski Road.

Wagner said it would be a soft opening on Monday. Plans for a grand opening are in the works, he said.

“We’ll put up some signs on 111th and Pulaski saying ‘We’re Open’. “

He said people have already been trying to come into the restaurant.

“We must have a hundred people a day try the front door,” he said with a laugh.

He said the crew was firing up the grill this week as practice for the opening next week.

“We want to make sure we give the people what they have come to expect at Hog Wild.”

The new Hog Wild will start out at 3,300 square feet and will have seating for 100.

“We just acquired another 2,000 square feet for a banquet room,” he said. “So, we’ll have a total of 5,500 square feet.”

Wagner said his location will accept cash, credit and debit cards, unlike the original which only accepts cash.

The restaurant will feature the same menu as the Midlothian original location as well as video gaming.

Hours will be from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

This will be another attempt to franchise the business, which got its start at 14933 S. Pulaski Road in Midlothian. A second location in Tinley Park closed years ago as well as an affiliated restaurant in Calumet City.

There is a Hog Wild Express located in a gas station/convenience store on LaGrange Road in Mokena.

ProMedica cuts ribbon in Oak Lawn

ProMedica Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation (formally ManorCare Health Services) held a ribbon cutting at its Oak Lawn location last month.

In attendance to help the ProMedica team celebrate the event Dec. 21 was Oak Lawn Mayor Terry Vorderer, Commissioner Dan Johnson and Chamber of Commerce executive director Anne Fritz.

“We are excited to be part of a community-focused, not-for-profit health care system that is leading in Social Determinants of Health, championing healthy aging and cultivating innovation,” said administrator Janeen Woodard. “We will continue to be the helpful, caring and responsive organization the Oak Lawn community has known for 44 years, just with a new name.”

Tinley Metra lot closed

Commuters who use the 80th Avenue Metra station in Tinley Park will have to use the parking lot south of the tracks as the village has closed off the parking lot north of the tracks.

In order to control costs, village officials said snow plowing and salting services will not take place in the lot over the winter. The lot looked like a skating rink after last weekend’s freezing drizzle and the ice in the lot shimmered in the sun.

The parking lots at the Oak Park Avenue train station will be plowed and salted as usual through the winter.
