The Kendall County Courthouse in Yorkville will remain open for business despite an increase in COVID-19 test positivity rates in the region.
However, people are encouraged to do court business remotely via Zoom whenever possible, officials announced.
“We encourage the use of remote appearances via Zoom in all courtrooms to the extent possible,” Kendall County Presiding Judge Robert Pilmer said in a news release. “This is available to all individuals and attorneys in most instances, and should be used to help minimize further transmission of the virus.”
Pilmer said the 23rd Judicial Circuit Court is managing through the surge of COVID-19 cases.
“The courts are in a better position today compared to March of 2020 when all court proceedings occurred in person,” Pilmer said.
Information on remote court appearances in Kendall County is available on the judiciary page of the Kendall County website at https://www.co.kendall.il.us/offices/judiciary.
Visitors to the courthouse are required to wear masks and those with COVID-19 symptoms should appear remotely to minimize the risk of exposure or infection to others, officials said.
