A pair of Buffalo Grove Park District commissioners were recently recognized for their tenure on the park board – with a combined 30 years of service.

Commissioners Scott Jacobson and Adriane Johnson were honored at the Illinois Association of Park Districts Best of the Best Awards Gala in October for their individual years of service milestones, according to a Park District news release.

State Senator Adriane Johnson, D-Buffalo Grove, who was appointed seat in 2020 to represent the 30th District, was recognized for sitting 10 years on the park board. Scott Jacobson, who is currently the park board President, was recognized for 20 years of service, according to the release.

“We have been so fortunate to have the kind of long-term, strong leadership that Scott and Adriane provide,” Buffalo Grove Park District Executive Director Ryan Risinger said in the release.

He said Jacobson has been an advocate over the past two decades for many “important” issues, including helping the Park District provide a fitness center, golf dome and arts center to the community, as well as setting policy that included an outdoor smoking ban.

Johnson, the park director said, has provided “impactful leadership from day one.”

He said that, In addition to what she has done for Buffalo Grove, Johnson has also served as chair of the IAPD board, “providing leadership that had a positive effect on park districts throughout the entire state.”

“It’s no surprise that her talents have brought her all the way to the Illinois State Senate,” Risinger said.
