Survey says

How about a survey” How many agree or disagree that again, the award shows are not about talent and awards for music? For me, there is no doubt, for example the American Music Awards, are not about good music. It’s about race and political statements, not music.

Bad decision-making

The Waukegan Public Library needs new leadership, pronto. Have you walked through those doors lately? It’s a ghost town. Leaders there blame it on the pandemic, but bad decision-making is the true cause. Frustrating for us old-timers that remember the once-vital, booming resource it was to our community. I hope this new group of trustees puts in the effort required to turn things around for the good people of Waukegan and employees. Did you hear, they’re going union? I say good for them. I hate seeing them defeated with this new way of doing their jobs. It’s backward. It’s one of the bad decisions keeping people away. Library users come in looking for people in a certain area doing a certain job. It’s a comfort. Now, that’s all changed. My friends that frequent the library don’t like it, and the employees feel the same. How do I know? I asked. Questions are free. Here are a few more questions. Why are most programs in person, but the adult education classes remain online? Isn’t the library open every day? Surely doesn’t make any sense. Why is that Seasons room in the children’s area only open 10-2? Does that make sense for families with school-age children? It sure didn’t for me when I brought my grandson in for a visit. What a waste of what looks to be a dynamic place for learning.

Here it is

Welcome to the Biden Depression.

Pampering needs to stop

Besides talk of compensation for illegal immigrants being separated from their children, there has been talk of family members of past slaves getting compensation. Ridiculous. Am I going to get compensated for having to grow up with a mentally and physically abusive mother? Of course not. This pampering needs to stop. Good grief people, buck up and take responsibility for your own problems. Taxpayers are tired of supporting everyone and their issues.

Lawsuits waiting to happen

There is one machine at the Waukegan Metra station where you can get a parking receipt. It is next to the station door, facing west. Anybody with a problem walking or in a wheelchair would have to go quite a ways to get that receipt, especially if parked on the east side. I am not sure why none of the other machines are working, but Waukegan or Metra needs to do something about this, because if a handicapped person parks on the west side and has to wheel all the way over to the station, somebody’s gonna get a lawsuit filed.

How is this acceptable?

What is our Lake County Forest Preserves District doing? The board just dropped its budget by 25% and is thinking of selling off an asset of 50 acres in Waukegan. During this time of climate change awareness, and the international belief of the need to save 30% of land and waters by 2030, why is forest preserve land in Waukegan expendable? These are important acres that filter air pollution in a highly contaminated city, and contain wetlands that prevent flooding in a community that needs more open space, not less. How is this acceptable to residents of Waukegan and nearby areas?

Not my problem

Why should I pay for other people’s child care? I choose to spend wisely, and budget my income. My child receives his care from me, his mother. Why should my tax money pay for the care of someone else’s child? Working outside of the home is a personal choice, and the financial responsibility for child care belongs to the mother, not taxpayers.

What does she do all day?

Exactly what has Vice President Harris done to help us? As I see it, absolutely nothing, and, I thought that she would be a nice addition to the office of the President. That sure hasn’t turned out that way. Nothing has been accomplished as I see it. What does she do all day, sit in her office and sleep?
