Nasty column

I’m calling in regards to Jerry Davich’s column on Kyle Rittenhouse. I’m a grandma, and I wouldn’t want one of my grandkids doing what Kyle did. He should never have gotten that rifle and went to Kenosha to try to protect the property. There were ugly riots going there and a minor probably shouldn’t have even been there. But young men have always done that. Remember after 9/11? All the young men and women, too, who signed up to defend our country. That’s how it works. But what I’m particularly angry about — and I’m angry about a lot of stuff in the column — is when he talked about when Kyle committed premeditated emotional breakdown by crying uncontrollably for the camera, and the world and the jury, I wasn’t aware he was a drama theater student, along with his membership as a cadet. How dare he try to decide if the tears were real or faked? If I were a teenager, if I were 17, and I was facing my life in jail for defending my right, I’d be crying too. I’d probably have cried a lot more than Kyle. I think it’s ugly when adults try to do this. It talked about patrolling downtown Kenosha in the wake of the riots, when a white man was shot by a white police officer. You had to throw the race in there right away. But they have made him into a racist vigilante. It’s ugly. It’s ugly what they have done. Not just Davich, but his column is nasty.

They don’t speak for me

The bored rich, which are folks that are on the right who went to elite colleges and have elite degrees, are ruining this country, folks. They are ruining it for the middle class and the poor, while they continue to get rich. Remember, they can afford gas at $10 a gallon, while the middle class and the poor are struggling. We continue to struggle with food prices, heating our homes, while the elite wealthy on the left have no idea how we live, and continue to live just fine. It doesn’t affect them. These changes will never affect the rich and the elite. They think they talk and speak for us. They do not speak for me, a middle-class person barely making it.

Stop hiding

I can’t believe in the city of Waukegan we still have police officers who are so far left they refuse to do their jobs. Get out of your Dunkin Donut vehicle, stop hiding in vacant lots and behind buildings, and get out here and do your jobs. Stop hiding. We got people panhandling, which my understanding is OK. However, they are in the middle of the street panhandling, which I call soliciting. There are other names for it, and soliciting is another one. They are soliciting for money, standing in the middle of the road, causing mayhem. Why can you just not push them over to the corners?

Something wrong here

What is wrong with our country? We’re more worried about the border in Russia and Ukraine and Poland versus our own border. We’re going to be sending troops out to protect somebody else’s border and not our borders? There’s definitely something wrong here and in China.

Who’s the moron now?

In response to “What a chump”: Who the heck would root for the Packers anymore when they have a cheater among them? I am one of them. I like Aaron Rodgers. I think he has chutzpah, which you don’t have. He’s an American. He believes in freedom. You’re a communist. You believe in going along with the people standing at the trough, eating the food or the slop that the Democrats put in for you. And when you get out of line, they just jab you with their cattle prod and push you back over to the trough. Aaron Rodgers is a smart man. He probably took vitamin D, vitamin C. Maybe he got some Ivermectin from somewhere. Maybe some hydroxychloroquine. Yeah, he probably had a doctor giving him all those prophylactics so that, when he got the COVID-19, he got a mild case of it and now he’s 27 times more likely not to catch it than you are. So who’s the moron now? Go Packers.

Fix Grand Avenue

I’m calling in response to the Talk of the County item titled “Another layer won’t work.” It’s absolutely true. I’ve lived in Waukegan for 12 years, and it’s pitiful about Grand Avenue and Washington, between Green Bay Road and Lewis Street. I’m ashamed to show it to people when my people come in from out of town. Just cross west of Green Bay into Gurnee, and you have beautiful, smooth-driving streets. Please fix Grand Avenue.

Take care of Americans first

I’m calling in regard to “Wrong in every way,” criticizing the past administration for separating families. Check your facts. The Obama-Biden administration are the ones, too, that separated the families. So, just don’t blame the Trump administration. Also, I agree it is wrong to compensate the immigrant parents. It was their choice to come here. If you want to compensate anyone, compensate the veterans who returned from Afghanistan and have to put up with body parts that they’ve lost, and the mental and emotional trauma that they go through. Take care of Americans first.
