The Aurora City Council’s Building, Zoning and Economic Development Committee recently approved final plans for the second phase of the Pacifica Square development on the city’s far East Side.

In doing so, the committee paved the way for five new, multi-tenant buildings totaling 56,848 square feet. The tenants would be retail, restaurant and entertainment uses.

In addition, a building would include 10,406 square feet of office space located on the second story.

The layout has been designed to be pedestrian friendly with a plaza and gathering areas, outdoor seating, large sidewalks, defined connections to the existing shopping center and parking.

Since some parking has been removed or reconfigured to make way for this development, Pacifica Square III, LLC, is adding some parking in the rear of the existing shopping center in order to meet the parking regulations.

Pacifica Square is being developed at New York Street and Route 59 on the city’s far East Side. It is the largest Asian-centric shopping and lifestyle center in the country, officials said.

The first phase has been finished and been open for a while, and is almost full of tenants. Developers are now ready to do the second phase of the project.

According to Aurora planning officials, the building elevations have been designed with a modern look using different fiber cement textures and an assortment of colors giving a unique look to each building accentuating the Asian theme.

Landscaping is being implemented throughout the parking lot and around the expansion area of the stormwater detention facility.

Approval of the final plan by the Building, Zoning and Economic Development Committee is final, unless someone appeals it. If there is an appeal, the plan would go to the full City Council for a vote.
