The Chicago area got a sampling of snow Friday, and though it wasn’t measurable as of midafternoon, accompanying high winds gave the region a wintry feel.

The National Weather Service’s Chicago office issued a special weather statement in the afternoon. There is a band of snow with “really strong winds” according to Brett Borchardt, weather service meteorologist.
“With the snow falling, it’s dropping visibility,” Borchardt said.
In Romeoville, the snowfall dropped visibility less than a quarter of a mile, he said.
None of the snow had been measurable yet, according to Rafal Ogorek, another weather service meteorologist.
Saturday should be “mostly quiet” according to Ogorek. The high will be around 40 degrees and no precipitation is expected.
However, the area will not stay dry for much longer beyond that, according to Ogorek.
“Overnight Saturday into Sunday will bring additional precipitation to the area,” he said. “It looks like at least some of that precipitation is going to be snow but will probably be some rain mixed in as well.”
