Consequences for firings: I have to agree with the Speak Out comment about getting rid of the volunteer docents at the Art Institute of Chicago. I can’t believe that’s legal. I, too, will not be donating or visiting there.
What was the point? I hope I won’t get beat up for this but I did reluctantly choose to get vaccinated against COVID-19. I was hoping (that as a result I’d) not to have to wear a mask this past summer, not to have to report to human resources every time I left the state. But then they found out that even with the vaccine, you can still get COVID-19. So my employer still requires employees to wear a mask. The experts say the vaccinations for COVID-19 are safe. When they inoculated people for the chickenpox they told us that was safe too. Now we have to get a vaccine so we do not catch shingles.
Prom queen not a joke: High school teens just voted a male as their prom queen. They thought it’d be funny, nobody said anything about how/why their joke was wrong. Not by the teachers or worse yet, their parents. Some teens still don’t use common sense but when supposed responsible adults allow stunts like this, our country’s future is in big trouble.

Not enough prayer to fix it all: I would submit that the condition of mankind is not due to the failure of prayer but rather that there is not enough of it to combat the selfish desires of many to control wealth, education, individual freedom, religion and people in general.
Powell a true leader: The death of Colin Powell removes from our midst a person who possessed all of the qualities we should look for in our leaders. He possessed sincerity, personal integrity, humility, courtesy, wisdom and charity. A Republican, he was admired and respected by all political stripes. If he had chosen to do so, he could possibly have been our first Black president. In these perilous times, we must recruit and choose leaders who possessed Powell’s qualities.
Cleaning up after Trump: To all you crybaby Republicans, you should quit dissing Biden and the Democrats and realize they’re only trying to fix what Trump messed up, which is almost everything good this country stands for. Remember that Trump wasn’t a real president. He was a reality star and a poser who got elected because no one liked Hillary Clinton.
No protection here: Democrats are pushing legislation they claim will protect our voting rights. They want every vote to count. Yet, at the same time, Illinois legislators draw maps that guarantee their party will remain in power. In many elections, Republicans won’t even offer a candidate because they know there is no way they can win. If every vote should count, legislative maps shouldn’t be manipulated.
