Indian Prairie School District 204 and Naperville School District 203 are teaming up to host a COVID-19 vaccination clinic for children ages 5 to 11 following federal approval this week for young children to receive the two-dose Pfizer vaccine.
The first shot will be administered between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at Kennedy Junior High School at 2929 Green Trails Drive in Lisle. Children will return to the same location during the same hours Saturday, Dec. 4, to receive the second dose.
Vaccinations will be administered by Osco pharmacy employees and limited to children ages 5 to 11 only.
A parent or guardian must accompany their child to the clinic and present a photo ID, a news release said. While health insurance is not required to get the shot, the districts recommended insurance cards be brought to the clinic.
DuPage and Will county health departments are also planning to administer the Pfizer vaccine to 5- to 11-year-olds at their respective health centers as will Edward-Elmhurst Health, which is offering them at its Downers Grove Health Center at 2205 Butterfield Road, spokesman Keith Hartenberger said.
Vaccine appointments for the Edward-Elmhurst site can be scheduled through the health care system’s MyChart or at www.EEHealth.org.
Local pharmacies, including Osco, CVS and Walgreens, are also offering appointments for young children who need the shot and walk-ins are also allowed at most locations.
