Oswego-based District 308 School Board member Ruth Kroner has announced she will resign from the board for personal reasons.
Kroner was elected to a four-year term in 2019. She informed the community of her plans at the Oct. 25 School Board meeting.
“In an effort to be transparent to the community as much as possible, I want to let everyone know what is happening with my family,” Kroner said.
Kroner said her husband has accepted a job offer within his company that will take the family out of state.
“While we have begun the very complicated process of relocation, my two boys, who are SD 308 students, and myself, will be here at least through the end of December,” Kroner said.
Kroner said she intends to fulfill her duties on the School Board until her departure.
“I am still fully committed to my role as a board member until such time I no longer reside in the district. Any and all prayers as we go through this process are appreciated,” Kroner said.
Kroner’s term expires in 2023. She said “the board has already begun discussing the process of filling the vacancy.”
School Board member Lauri Doyle, who was re-elected in 2019, said she will be sad to see Kroner leave the board.
“Ruth, know that your loss will be felt,” Doyle said.
