Hang in there

To the senior having problems with businesses not taking cash: You’re so cute, and good grief you’re so right. I haven’t experienced that problem yet, but I’m sure I will somewhere down the line. I’m a young senior, so I’ve been able to adjust to this new world of card-cash, online banking and online bill paying. I can totally understand your frustration, though. As we age, it gets harder to adjust and accept change. As the old saying goes “If it’s not broke, why fix it?” But it’s a new world and a new day, and some of us elderly are being left behind, pushed aside or forgotten. Sad but predictable. That’s something that has never changed. The cycle of life. Sad as it may be. God bless you and other seniors trying to adjust to this new world. Hang in there.

Eat at home

I saw a strip mall that had five eating places. I don’t like to eat out, but with all the buffets, and cafes and the restaurants where all people can eat out, is it a hobby? I do not think 90% of restaurants are essential. People have stoves and refrigerators at home, and they’re complaining there are no workers and the restaurants are going out of business. Well, I think there’s too many restaurants and cafes and buffets.

Lazy people

Looks like lazy people are dumping trash along North Northwestern Avenue in Waukegan. Piles of garbage, and maybe drums of flammable chemicals near a wetland.

Who’s more authoritarian?

In response to the post about Biden taking the country away from “authoritarianism” under Trump. He has it all wrong. Biden is taking us on the road to “authoritarianism” and “serfdom” by his mask mandates, or you can’t work without the COVID vaccine. He has threatened the military, and wants a national mandate that companies will not allow employees to be employed without the vaccine. Who is the authoritarian? I didn’t care for Trump, but he was about freedom. And, you can throw J.B. Pritzker in there as well for authoritarianism.

Don’t do it

If you are ever asked to make a payment over the phone by gift card, this is probably a scam. Don’t do it.

Poor get poorer

Regarding the homeless man setting up camp off Lewis Avenue: It’s only the beginning of more to come. There are states all over this country that are considered “tent cities.” The homeless are lining up tents in front of residential parkways and businesses. California and Oregon are some of the worst tent cities. Welcome to the new way of the world. Like it’s always been said, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

Are you kidding me?

I want to comment on the new clean energy law that includes many money saving incentives. Is that all you guys do at the News-Sun is just proliferate all these policies by the leftists? There’s nothing wrong with getting clean energy. I agree with working on clean energy. Solar in the coming times will never replace natural gas. The thing about this story that irritated me, replacing coal and natural gas, obviously coal is dirty. So down the road you want to get rid of coal. You have clean coal, which is not so bad, no matter what the people say. In the end, in your lifetime, what you’re looking for quite simply is to have an energy source for you and your family that’s equitable, that you can afford and that’s not too bad for the environment. These Democrats and the clean energy, they’re out of their minds. They think they’re just going to strip away everything we’ve done for a long time. Think about natural gas. Think about everybody on every street everywhere has a furnace that runs off of natural gas. So what are you going to do? Are you going to strip out your furnace and put giant solar panels, or have electric heat, which costs like a million dollars to heat your home? Are you kidding me?
