Seems like patronage
Candidate Ann Taylor represented herself as an independent crusader who would root out corruption and city patronage jobs. As Mayor, Ann Taylor in a seeming 180 degree reversal of her campaign promises, is all in for patronage. Per reporting in the News Sun, Taylor has decided to add to her office staff – her 2021 running mate and defeated candidate for City Clerk – Maria LaCour with a lucrative compensation package including salary, benefits, and retirement. And assign her FOIA processing with the primary responsibility to internalize paralegal review and redacting. Unfortunately LaCour is not a certified paralegal and will be learning on the job. This high paying position should have been filled by an experienced, certified, paralegal professional capable of shielding the City from legal inquiries and defending actions and decisions to higher level agencies including the state’s office of the attorney general at a market price point equal to and likely less than LaCour’s compensation package. Perhaps in time LaCour will eventually gain the professional credentials and experience required, but as of now the optics of this smack of a highly public patronage reward, a broken campaign promise, with the added potential for high risk of liability for the City and Taylor herself when the ‘on the job trainee’ makes the inevitable mistake.
Why share?
I read Talk of the County and one says, “We need to share.” It says that somebody talked about not wanting to share with other countries. I believe that’s true. Why should we keep sharing? We’re the ones that always share with other countries, not the other countries, so why don’t we just stay in our own country. We have enough problems. We’ve got debt. This country is in debt. They’re talking about closing down the government for God’s sake. You know, we’ve shared with all these other countries for years. It doesn’t seem like they share with us, so I think we need to take care of our own country and our own people first. I’m sorry. That’s just the way I feel also.
Rittenhouse trial
It’s a joke with our judicial system. This trial for Kyle Rittenhouse is a joke. I don’t care what anybody says. He had no right to have an AR-15. He was 17 years old, underage, and he was out of state.
Impeach Biden
Our southern borders are a mess. Thank you, Democrats. The border wall is on hold and the contractors were getting paid not to work on the border wall. This Biden administration is the stupidest administration in U.S. history. We all miss President Trump and common sense. Let’s get the Biden administration impeached as soon as possible.
