The organizations provide a variety of services for such things as sexual abuse, family counseling, senior assistance, housing assistance, health care, food help, and charities that provide financial assistance.
Some of the organizations include A Safe Place, Lambs Farm, Mothers Trust, Clearbook, Shelter Inc., PADS Lake County, North Suburban Legal Aid Clinic, Glenkirk, Catholic Charities, Willow House and GiveNKind, according to a news release from the township.
Vernon Township Trustee Sheila Sebor said she hopes the $243,000 total given to the organizations will allow residents to have more access to the services.
Emily Petway, founder and executive director of GiveNKind, said in the township release that without the support from the township, her organization would not have been able to grow the way it has.
“In just half a year GiveNKind has nearly doubled the value of donations,” she said in the release. “We will continue to grow to better serve our community.”
